Rare wooden bench designed by the Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956). Reminiscent of the “Fledermaus” furniture that was designed by Hoffmann in 1907 for Kabarett Fledermaus in Vienna. Characteristic of Hoffmanns designs are the applied wooden balls en round, circle /oval shaped bentwooden elements. Variants of the Fledermaus furniture pieces were produced by Thonet (-Mundus) and Jacob & Josef Kohn.
The bench has a characteristic green stained wooden frame and is by its first and previous owners re-upholstered with Wiener Werkstätte fabric.
The bench is in a solid condition with signs of usage and ageing as shown on the images. Fabric in a good condition, two small stains, not disturbing; see images.
