A striking piece of functional art from the 1980s, this hand-forged metal chair blurs the line between sculpture and design. Its sinuous, organic lines rise from the ground in an almost vegetal rhythm, culminating in a delicate flourish of leaves — a perfect balance between industrial strength and natural form.
Crafted entirely from welded steel rods and a hand-formed seat, the chair exemplifies the experimental, expressive spirit of late 20th-century design. The work bears visual affinities to the early sculptural furniture of Tom Dixon and other designers active in the London design scene of the 1980s, though its maker remains unknown.
